Mat Classes

About

Our matwork classes are a flexible, social, informative and fun way of learning how your body functions, transforming it into a lean well-balanced machine. The method of body-conditioning from the core postural muscles develops the alignment without putting stress on the joints. Exercises can target specific muscles but take into account the stability required from the joint so as not overloading and putting undue stress on the body.

The classes are run in blocks of eight weeks to allow the instructor to teach you the exercises and within the class provide adequate attention to each persons specific needs. As a beginner you will start with a medical form to highlight any injuries you may have. This simple precaution can help you prevent certain injuries from developing into severe conditions that will prompt you to use your health or life insurance to pay for medical expenses. You will then learn about your core muscles and over the weeks devlop core strength and mobilizing muscles in balance with each other to improve your posture, strength and flexibility.

If you are coming on the recommendation of a practitioner (such as a physiotherapist or your doctor) it is recommended that you attend a 1:1 in the studio first.

All your equipment is provided for you. You just need to wear suitable clothes that won’t restrict your movements. No footwear required: go barefoot or bring a pair of socks.

Class sizes are restricted to twelve or less participants. Some classes are smaller to give extra attention. The course costs £88, with a discount to facility members for the eight weeks tuition. Within the eight weeks you can make up any classes missed by attending another venue. Please let us know first though as we want to make sure there is space for you at that venue.
